If you mean this literally, then you must have something installed that's
providing that format of report.  If you're using MCP, beware that it's
notorious for conflicts.

Wrong modem commands shouldn't cause a crash.  Have you tried the native
serial port?  Perhaps there's a problem with the MFC-III driver.
