Well, that's kinda why I asked. :) Is there a difference?
I, thankfully, like in a country where calls to an ISP are free (though
those bastards as NZTelecom badly want to charge us for data calls), but
there are others who aren't so lucky- I understand in Germany, you pay
through the nose. So every little bit of extra speed counts, as it's less
time online, and fewer charges.

This is true. When I got a multisync monitor and started running DBLPAL, my
baud rate went drastically down. Switching to 8n1.device cured the problem
(from Miami's built-in device), but later I started getting random
kick-offs and couldn't reconnect, which was cured by going to
serial.device.

What;s Artser.device? Is it for custom hardware?
As you can tell from the above, 8n1 ran faster, but was less stable.
Serial.device and Miami's device both seem stable, so the question is,
which is faster?
