You can fix it up all you want your not selling it to me for 10k and anyone that pays 10k for it is an idiot.
The amount of time and miles you need to drive it to actually make a difference in saving money over a car getting 20-30 MPG isn't going to save back the ridiculous cost of the car. And Robert, does it really make sense for you to spend 4.5k to get a high mileage car to drive to work when you work less than 15 minutes from home and have no commuter traffic to deal with on the way? Carfax anyone??? Just so we are all on the same page, here is an Ebay '91 Metro with 58K miles that went for $6800 (Item number: 190221976921). What is the book value on that one <G> ? Here's a '92 convertible with 68K miles (I was bidding on a '92 convertible with 53K miles) that went for $4700 (Item number: 330236770408). Yes, much nicer than what I just bought (or what I bid on and am looking at tomorrow) but it is in California. Beggers can't be choosers in South Carolina. I'll fix this one up, swap in the high MPG camshaft and sell it to you for $10K when gas hits $7/gal <G>! Actually, this project will be much cheaper than my last one and may even save/make me a few dollars. It should be fun playing with this. I think I would try to negotiate the price a little more than your thinking of paying.
