Wierd. My 1990 1.6L routinely gets me 30 mpg on my daily commute. 40 
miles each way, cruising at 60mph with little traffic. Probably one of 
the most scenic commutes around too, though the Columbia River Gorge 
each way.

Of course if you take into consideration the 1 quart of oil it takes me 
to do my daily commute the cost is probably closer to coming out at 26 
mpg. Still a damn sight better than 20...
