well, 162 is too hot.? The charging voltage is not the problem.??If you unhook the battery and let is sit for an hour (to remove the surface charge) what is the battery voltage then?? A 12 volt rated battery is it's nominal charge.? Fully charged it is around 12.8 volts and fully discharges it is around 11.2 volts. Anything less than about 10.5 volts and you have a dead cell or a short between cells (there are six?2 volt cells in most lead acid batteries).???
