Before you do anything else bleed again but use the normal open-push-close-pedal up-open.....  I have never had much success with the vacuum bleeding thing.  Maybe its just me, but I've replaced the slave, bled using my vacuum pump only to have the clutch not move.  Several good pumps on the pedal seems to be able to move air past the coiled steel line where the vacuum couldn't.  I'd certainly try it before doing any major part-pulling.

One way to check the hydraulics is to measure the throw at the end of the release arm. IIRC, should be about 12-13mm.

I just reused the pilot bearing that was in there when I did the tranny swap last year. If you recall, I was in a hurry to give my wife a reason to drop me on my ass......

I am preparing myself for another tranny pull.
