Can you re-build a Miata diff to run backwards? I am starting to plan the building of a motorcycle engined Locost 7 style vehicle. The common option is to use a Hyabusa/R1 engine mounted north and south, running a prop drive flange where the gearbox sprocket should go. I am thinking an option is an already shaft drive engine V-max, FJR1400 and the like. This could be a more torquey engine with a wider ration gearbox. One problem I have been told that the bike shaft drive runs backwards compared to a car. So I would end up with 6 reverse gears, bike engined cars have a issue with doing backwards, but this is not the solution:) So the question is can you swap the crown wheel over in a Miata?
