I see "INFO: Despliegue del archivo mifos.war de la aplicacin web" in
your catalina.2.out file. Is the default language of your system
something other than English? Maybe you could try changing that to
English, UTF-8.

If system locale does cause a problem with XML validation, we would
certainly welcome patches that correct this behavior.

Van mentioned that the XML validation failure sounded like an issue of
picking up a stray library somewhere. That was my thought as well.

Jeff had the idea of trying to deploy another Web application in Tomcat.
I suggest trying Hudson ( http://hudson-ci.org/ )... you need only
deploy the war and it should start up.

The releases on sourceforge.net are tested and used by many folks, and
none that I know of have noticed the particular XML validation error
you're seeing. I may be mistaken--you might try searching the mailing
list archives for the error.

One other question: what vendor and version of Java are you using? Mifos
1.3.0 requires the Sun Java Runtime (or JDK) 6 version 1.6.x.
