sorry Mickey, but I've been involved with DOD & DOE ( and it's predecessors) for almost 25 years. UC get's a large amount of it's research funding from the US Gov't. Now the do-gooder liberals in California may want you to think it's for basic research, but I can guarantee you DOD & DOE don't spend US tax payer $$ unless there is some return in support of defense and nuclear physics work. diana
