Use something like flashboot (www.mindrot.org/projects/flashboot) perfect for this kind of application, take a look at the package managment stuff

Unless you have a need to keep state, I'd not bother in any way to write to the flash. I'd have a bsd.rd on there that get's loaded on boot. No
fsck necessary, completely in ram, etc.
