I have the same re(4) and PHY in my aspireone, this works totally ok with vlans
in -current i386, I can't easily try older kernels on it due to the
getdirentries()
change (and can't test it with amd64 at all) but I don't see any recent changes
that could have affected it.

Do you see '802.1Q vid XXX' tags if you tcpdump -nire0 on the machine
itself and send traffic over one of the vlans? e.g.

# ifconfig vlan123 vlandev re0
# tcpdump -nire0 &
# ping6 -w ff02::1%vlan123

How about if you connect another machine direct to the re(4) and run
tcpdump on that machine? Configure the same numbered vlan on that machine
too and see if you get any responses (i.e. so you are avoiding the switch),
and compare what you see in tcpdump on both machines.

(Note: I'm using link-local v6 addresses in my example commands to be
sure that routing table and configured addresses don't affect the results).
