I see that there is a general purpose API for US machines (http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11548-013-0962-z#page-1). From memory I recall a design where one could provide direct control of an ultrasound scanner such as a Terrason, or Ultrasonix using the vendors API. Is there an equivalent for Video? Or is the recommended approach just to go for OpenCV, where for example my on-board web-cam, or a USB based video card would probably work quite well via OpenCV. But is anyone working on directly connecting to video cards like Black Magic/AJA/Matrox?
