So far so good guys, very impressed. For my two cents worth I would like
to make a note or two from a users perspective. (not a developer, sorry)
I use AtomixMP3 through wine (ubuntu) and am so far the most impressed
with it as far as being a live DJ is concerned. Especially regarding the
looping and beatmatching function/feature for its ease of use and
functionality.
The loop setup; Just four real simple little buttons per deck, 8, 4, 2,
1(each adjustable "NI Traktor" style with a right click would be even
better, but rarely used, ie, to 0.5 beat) Separate buttons for loops I
believe essential to live mixing, as usually not the time to reduce the
loop with only one button, ie, like traktor.
Really, if I could just load up another pair of decks on Atomix I would
never look any further for a virtual CDJ. Also, I note that it's very
effective with hardware input also and wine hooks it up fine to pulse
audio output via the alsa driver. I know after all the hard work that's
gone on, that this might not be the most popular statement, but if I had
the time and the technical knowledge I would simply (???) re-write
AtomixMP3 (ie, hack the wine inputs/outputs maybe) to be capable of
multiple decks (ie, at least 3 or 4) and perhaps a new skin (like one
that said MIXXX 2.KICKARSE!) and that's about all really.
Just thoughts, but definitely worth a look I feel, and if nothing else
I bet there's a few code lines that could be borrowed at the other end
of wine, (beat matching?) which I would imagine might negate any legal
considerations.
Sincerely,
DJ Maniax
