Thanks a lot, Owen and Albert for the pointers.

I'll look into the playposition ControlObject and it might
very well get rid of my bugs, since it felt very much like a
race condition.
Then I'll have a look at the soundtouch interface, and if I
can get pitch control, it will be bliss for a while :-)

On a more sensible note, I have a few issues with Mixxx as it
is: sound quality and user-input latency.

I once read on the "features" page that Mixxx had "superior
sound quality". I can't very well relate on that: for me,
the sound quality is sometimes OK, sometimes pretty bad
(e.g. with clear notes like piano solos), but I only use it
in my bedroom so far, so I can cope.
It seems the VE an PITS modes sound quite differently (with
VE sounding a little better), and when I tried Mixxx 1.8, the
audio quality dropped quite a bit, which made me reverse back
to 1.7.2. Now if the whole sound resampling machinery is
contained in soundtouch, I guess that's where I have to look.
I once fixed a resampling bug in Snes9X so I know what kind
of mess that can be...

About user-input latency: on my desktop computer, you can feel
a tiny delay when using cues or any other button control, but
it's easy to account for. But I have a dream that some day, I'll
be on the big scene with my tiny linux netbook, and that is quite
impossible right now: I don't know if it's the Atom processor or
Intel 3D card, but the latency of the GUI is so high that it's
all but unusable. Do you know what causes this?

That's a lot of criticisms (and I didn't start on the playlist ;)
So let me quickly add that I haven't had so much fun doing music
on my computer since ... well, since July the 23rd, 2004 !
