We might add it to lavplay, yes. lavtrans has a different purpose, it
aims to keep the JPEG images from, for example, a quicktime movie and
put it in a different container, e.g. AVI. So you don't reencode video.
That doesn't work for DV (well, you could do quicktime DV to AVI DV, but
we currently don't support DV quicktime at all...).

But we'll try to get something working for lavplay.

Dear Ronald,

Yeah. Getting a DV aware LAVPLAY would be great!!!

I think that would solve my editing problems. This would allow me:
- interactively view the DV sequence to select relevant frame numbers,
- extract those frames (with lav2yuv),
- then either dump individual frames (using y4mtoppm),
or recode a subsequence to MPEG (using mpeg2enc)

It would be great to do this with all in MJPEG, so I don't have to copy (and
probably degrade) the original DV material.

If you get something going, I'll be more than happy to test it! I can also
get into the code, do traces, etc.

Thanks again,
  Richard
