With a little cursing and pulling the housing came out as well the
thermostat fell out too. I know the arrow is supposed to be facing a certain
direction, is it to face the engine?? I didn't get a chance to notice it
since it fell out with the housing. Thanks.

It's also sealed by an O-Ring - gently pry off the housing (yes, it's only
held with 2 bolts). Try using a screwdriver to separate the plastic from
the housing. Once off, remove the old thermostat with a screwdriver as
well
(used as a prybar). Be sure to have a BFP (big pan) under the car since
the
remaining coolant will dump from the housing, down your arm to your armpit
and into the pan.
