As far as I know, they are very pricey ($1000) from the dealer.  Used,
you can get one for $125 or so.  Mark @ Adirondack had them when I got
mine, but I ended up getting one from a local mechanic anyway.  Before
you get one though, I think you're best bet is to try another off a 16v,
even though so many people have said the same thing.  Find another 16v
owner, and swap them out.  You know for sure that if he's got your
problems and your car is suddenly fine, then thats the culprit.
