Do you know when the timing belt and tensioner were changed last? If it's kind of a "roller skate wheel" type of noise, it may be your tensioner. If you don't know how many miles are on your timing belt/tensioner, CHANGE IT ASAP! If the belt breaks/slips, you could be looking at a whole bunch of new valves (like 16), and, possibly, some new pistons. I don't know of any shops in the Sacto area, but they must exist.
