Thanks all you guys for the personal replies. There were a bunch so I'm
going to respond to the list.
- The car has a new fuel transfer pump. Also has a new knock sensor.
- I have cleaned a lot of the grounds, including the one on the head near
the dist. However I have not cleaned the contacts on the ECU or other
computer devices in the car. We have this stuff that's an "anti-corrosive"
electrical contact spray we use at Cisco to coat PCB's and connectors for
harsh environments, mil-spec stuff, which I might put on the contacts if I
get in there and clean them.
- I did crimp new connectors on the wires which lead to the
distributor. They were extremely corroded.
- I have not checked the cat, but seems highly unlikely because it
INSTANTLY goes away when I snap the key off and back on. Does not sound
like something that's clogged.
- I have not checked the O2 sensor, but it's not the original one, and the
car's been doing this since it was brand new. Perhaps it's a bad ground at
the O2 sensor?
- I don't have any clue how to check the ISV. It does act kind of funky
sometimes (at least seems funky to me, but I don't know what's
normal). When you run the car then turn it off, the ISV pulsates. Is this
a good, bad, or normal sign?
Thanks!
