Yeah, but once you're modifying the cars, all other things are never equal.
 :)  At least until you've gotten down to full race preperation, in which
case the GTI will be a lot lighter.

Yep, we shore cood!  Oh, I suppose I should add that my Jetta had
195/55/14's while the GTI had 205 series 15 inch wheels, which I suppose
could make a difference.  Or maybe my gas tank had less fuel (I believe
they were the same, though).  Whatever, if a Jetta owner drives around
perpetually below 1/2 tank, skips breakfast and takes a good healthy shit
before getting into the car, and drives on 14 inch wheels, he'll be OK when
he meets up with a GTI. :)

What I meant was that few of us have cars that have the same mods and same
state of tune after 100K miles, not that the engines wore out.  :)
