'91 GTI in a very significant way.
-Oh, you're right. I forgot about them 10.1's.

the aftermarket is a whole new ball game. At that point, you might as well
remove your interior to negate the weight difference.
-But ... the Jetta will ALWAYS weigh more. It's in the body, not the
interior, ...etc.

The Golf DID
accelerate harder, even with the same motor (2.0l 16v's) but not much
harder. I did race them side by side (one owned by my friend; we switched
so that we both had driven both cars) and the jetta was ever so slightly
slower to about 60 (maybe half a car length), but after that was just as
fast. Identical cars, both with the same mods.
-In my findings, there was a bigger difference between the two cars, but hey,
we can just go and on with this.

A 6% or 7% difference in weight is easilly offset in other areas as
long as you're not drag racing. :)
-You're right.

I don't know too many people who have identical cars
with motors within 6% of eachother after 100K miles. :)
-you'd be surprised.
