Hhmm - the center of the clutch breaking makes me wonder if something
isn't right with your transmission's input shaft. The exploded
friction material is a sign of excessive heat or, in my case,
excessive rpms. Is it possible that the center of the disc is
getting destroyed when the friction material flies off? Any leaks
from your engine or trans?

BTW, how do you use this car? Play car? Street car?

Well....the car used to be a little of everything..Delivery Vehicle, AutoXer, street/commuter, TSD Rallier and general all around abuse the heck out of stress reliever :-). It lives at high RPM's but hasn't been autox'ed since the last clutch failure. When I say the center failed, I am probably being too general, I don't know the names of the actual parts, the springs/housings develop play and eventually fail, you can see where the springs have worn into the housings. This failure was gradual and happens ~ every 30K miles. The chunking happens independently from the center hub failures, and since it is now happening more frequently the clutches never last long enough to fail in the center. I don't have any fluid leaks, I've had that happen twice before both times ruining brand new clutches :-(. I know that smell all too well! Basically the tranny, flywheel and clutch are all fairly recent, I just think I've reached the limitations of the stock clutch. Also my P-chip doesn't like the idle switch on the throttle body and when that acts up I get severe drivetrain jolts at light throttle which probably isn't helping matters. So Far I've heard of Centerforce Dual friction & Clutchmaster Stage 3 clutches, anyone every done a comparison?
