Exactly!!! When my heater core blew, I was in Cleveland, 3.5 hrs from home, with no tools and no indoor facilities for working on the car. In addition, I work, on something else besides my car, for a living. I need my car for my business. I can't afford for my car to be down while I'm taking twice as long to do it as it would take a shop. I was fortunate that my parents gave me one of their spare cars so I could get home and around while the dealer was working on my Passat.
It's the principle of it, also. They provided a defective part, they should replace it. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Francois St-Amand Sent: Tuesday, December 17, 2002 9:36 AM To: Scott Schumacher; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: RE: [a2-16v-list] Re: Heater Core Replacement? I say why bother since it's free... Unless you have some time on your hands and a warm garage!!! Do you really expect the dealer to do a good job? I mean we don't trust them for anything else and then we decide to send a 10+ year old car to them to tear apart the dash and replace a part buried deep in there. Shit, most of the techs in the service departments were like 10 when the last A2 was made. Just do the job yourself. Its not hard just tedious. -Scott >From: "Fli GLi" <[email protected]> >To: <[email protected]>, <[email protected]> >CC: <[email protected]> >Subject: RE: [a2-16v-list] Re: Heater Core Replacement? >Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2002 18:13:30 -0500 > > > Jim's problem is that VW, thru his dealer, it telling him is car IS NOT >covered under the recall.
