I'm planning on rebuilding my 16V head and I figure that it may be a good
idea to replace the valve springs. I haven't decided if the Hydrolic
Lifters need to be replaced as they are pretty quiet, I'll decide once I
open her up.
I'll be running a Euro Intake Cam and Euro Intake Manifold.
I'm also planning on getting a Garrett Chip so the rev limiter will be 8K
anyway.
I often rev my 16V to 7000RPM.

Sourcing parts won't be a problem because I work for a VW/Audi/Porsche
dealership. I'd be getting Stock VW parts.

One of the tuners I know is buildig a 2L turbo and they expect 250hp. They
also expect it to rev to 8K without valve float, using TD valve springs.

Another one of the VW tuners that have earned my respect over that past 5
years also suggests replacing older 16V valve springs with those from a
95-96 Turbo Diesel.

I have also been told that TechTonics uses Turbo Diesel Valve springs in
their kits.

I do know that the part numbers are different from the 16V to the turbo
diesel. The 16V springs are also cost 3 times more.

If anyone is interested here are the part numbers
Turbo Diesel Valve Springs
028 109 623 A - Outer Spring
028 109 633 A - Inner Spring

Stock 16V Valve Springs
078 109 623 A - Outer Spring
078 109 633 A - Inner Spring

Sorry for the numerous posts, I'm a little anxious and I want to get my 16V
pumped up for spring.

Thanks,
Mark Reda.
