I had the heater core in my 92 replaced the same way. It was technically
never covered by the recall. but my understanding is that even the 92's came
with
the same potentially faulty heater core.

Luckily for me there's a dealer here in so cal (Commonwealth if anyone's
interested) that will usually replace them free of charge with no questions
asked.
They even replaced a former list member's heater core twice.

The didnt remove the dash in my car and even with my brutally stiff as can be
motor mounts and 276 cam (2L 8V) the dash only vibrates minimally and I've
had the center console and kneebar out numerous times and havent noticed
anything fishy.
