No spark, tells me first thing, it isn't a fuel problem (yet).. it's a
SPARK problem..
Check the ground from the battery, to the frame rail, to the transmission..

When you turn the key to RUN position, do you hear the fuel pump energize
for a few seconds? If so, then I doubt it is a fuel issue, but still,
regardless, you need to get SPARK...

Possible hall sender in the dizzy.. Was the inside of the dizzy oily?

Hi 16Vs,

An update on my troubleshooting. To recap, the car left me on the
highway and will not turn over. It will crank normally but will not
start.

Today I changed the cap, rotor, plugs and ignition coil. I also checked
the timing belt and all the teeth look normal and it seems to be turning
normally.

We found no spark on the plugs which is why we decided to change the
ignition coil.

I think the next step is to check the distributor more closely. What
are some basic tests of the distributor?

Also, any chance that it is a fuel problem and not an ignition problem?
Would a fuel problem prevent the car from starting at all?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks,

Larry
