Larry,

I went through a similar situation not long ago. To make a long story short, I tested for fuel at the inlet to the fuel distributor as you did, with the same result - fuel sprayed seemingly under pressure. However, in the end, the main fuel pump was bad. I pulled it and ran it on the bench, where it ran and sprayed fuel across the garage, so I assumed it was good. It wasn't. There's a lot more to the story, but bottom line is, a new main pump solved the problem (car wouldn't start). Highly unlikely that the F.D. is bad, unless someone monkeyed with it prior to your problem arising.

Hey 16Vers,

I happen to just walk in from replacing my distributor. My 16V has
been out of commission for a while and won't start and I have been
trying different things in my spare time. So far I have replaced the
ignition coil (with a used one) and the distributor (with a new one). I now suspect a fuel problem. The main fuel line to the fuel distributor
sprays fuel when cranking but when I loosen the bolts to the injector
lines - nothing comes out. I wonder if the fuel distributor is bad.

Anyone have any tips on testing fuel delivery and how to troubleshoot
it? I looked through the Bentley but I didn't see any fuel
troubleshooting tips in there.
