Posted this on VW Whortex (because I'm a glutton for punishment). Thought
y'all might find it amusing.
Thanks to my crew members (Brian, Ryan and Bob) who are much more
motivated than myself, the General Li is refreshed and ready to race in
2009 (if only the car owner were in such a position).
Nothing
spectacular - just re-ringed the car and installed new rod bearings.
Fixed a few wear items in the shifter mechanism as well. While we were at it,
we expended several cans of Brake Clean to remove a bit of grit and grime - the
car is now probably 20 lbs lighter <G>.
The first outing is at the WDCR SCCA PDX Instructor's Clinic on
Saturday to seat the rings. I'm not sure of the next event - either the
WDCR SCCA Race School @ Slummit Point (Seat Time program) or the Race School
@ Nelson Ledges in April - we'll see.
Can't wait to race in
2009!! The MARRS series is headed possibly to VIR (lots of politics
going on - that race may not happen) but we're definitely headed to NJ
to race on both tracks on two separate weekends. I haven't been to NJMP
yet but am looking forward to racing on a new track - it's always a
challenge which is part of the fun.
