Had to rotate tyres and bleed the brakes on the street car (89 GTi 16v) -
something about leaving the keys in the car at a PDX and seeing your car
running
around the track that requires this effort afterwards...<G>.

When I pulled off the wheels to bleed the brakes, I pulled on the RF strut
(Bilstein Sport shock, Neuspeed race spring, R32 rear and OE front control arm
bushings) and it MOVED at the top by the upper strut mount. Doh!!! I've been
having a clunk whenever I reverse or turn the wheel sharply - apparently I've
found the culprit. I purchased the suspension used and it came with VR6 upper
strut mounts which I hear are "da bomb". The passenger-side bushing/bearing
(the big rubber donut) must be worn beyond belief to allow a good 1/4" of
movement. Now to buy and install replacements. Just not looking forward to
doing it in the upcoming record heat.
