Youse guys are scaring me - I have a Mk4 at home with a broken bolt in the trans from a failed dog-bone mount. The only good thing is that access to the bolt is direct instead of having to work at some God-forsaken angle whilst practicing erotic contortionism. Even so, it promises to be a large boil on my behind especially since the car belongs to a friend who loaned to a co-worker (MILF) whose son needed a car for a few weeks (in July). The pinhead drove the car with a broken dog-bone (apparently he didn't hear the motor rocking back and forth) until it make a loud squealing noise and the power-steering quit...because the engine torqued enough to jam the p/s pump and shear off the pulley...but I digress.
As for the front control arm bolt - I don't know that a helicoil will work. I remember the Bentley manual has a section on how to open the bodywork and insert a new capture nut for bot the front and rear control arm bolts. Neither of these tasks is high on my list of "enjoyable" repairs... >________________________________ > From: Steven Arguello <[email protected]> >To: Volkswagen a2 16v discussion list <[email protected]> >Cc: a2-16v <[email protected]> >Sent: Monday, November 21, 2011 10:06 AM >Subject: Re: [a2-16v-list] front control arm bolt thread repair > >Sorry to hear that.
