Hi Angelo,

All true points!

I however don't think that there is any shortage of requests for jobs that
require *NIX experience. Even with a very quick look at the Sunday Times
(to pick 1 newspaper ) I can pinpoint 1-2 IT jobs that _require_ Linux/*NIX
knowledge and around 6 more that consider knowledge of a *NIX an
asset..Taking example from most of the members of the MLUG committee we all
work at companies that have a certain exposure to Linux.. to mention a few,
2x www.2x.com (2 work there) develop their software on linux and also on
windows, I work at Philip Toledo were we offer several options for Mail
servers, Proxies, Web servers, firewalls etc etc that are all based on
linux. I can't say we offer only linux systems, on the contrary!, however
having linux knowledge is becoming indispensable to be able to stay on top
of requests imo.

Could you please link to this IT company list ? Also just out of curiousity,
what is your position at the UoM ?

Thanks,

Anton
