As Nick mentioned, every barrier we put up to contribution adds risk to the success of MLS. It *is* frustrating that users who aren't interested in contributing to MLS are having to agree to additional permissions in the app. I hate installing an app that has a litany of permissions for which I can see no clear correlation to the purpose of the app. In the stumbler case, the additional permission is for access to Wi-Fi info, it would be interesting to know if users would find this permission concerning in the context of a web browser. As for code impact, here is the size in my debug build: $ ls -lh ./mobile/android/base/jars-proguarded/stumbler.jar 70K 4 Sep 19:28 ./mobile/android/base/jars-proguarded/stumbler.jar Also, I hope we can find more ways to engage enthusiastic users in Fennec. One way in particular might be an "about:stumbling", in which they can optionally view their local collection stats (perhaps show how many previously uncharted wifis and cells they were the first to discover), and register for our leaderboard. _______________________________________________ mobile-firefox-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/mobile-firefox-dev
