Hey Michael,
for me "onboarding" would be a synonym to "first run" anyway. You seem
to be thinking of a lot more than that.
You might have more luck of creating mindshare by creating a wiki page
where you describe your philosophy, with importance, reasons, dos and
don'ts etc.. A page (with pictures) can express a lot more background
than a single word.
