Thanks for your response.

I tried that and I got the following error when I did a "make".

./gen_test_char: can't load library 'libperl.so'
*** Error code 16

Stop.
*** Error Code 1

Stop.
*** Error Code 1

Stop.
*** Error Code 1

I checked that the mod_perl stuff is in the apache source tree.

What could be wrong?  I am using BSDI.
