I noticed that there are several references to the current version

The svn messages are immutable, which makes it difficult to maintain a 
readable history.  What I wanted for "is M::B META 1.4 compliant" is a 
list of the changes which added keys and whether any of them were 
required.

What about keeping a HISTORY file next to it and rolling that into the 
html build process?
