Hello Again.
Not really keen on the colour of your plugs.
What colour is your exhaust pipe?, a darkish grey colour would be good.
The crossflow runs best when the mixture is on the rich side rather
than weak.
I trust you use 97 octane fuel, personally I prefer BP or Texaco, sadly
no Shell in the area.
I suggest you keep away from Tesco 99 octane, great in my Skodas which
need a minimum of 98 octane but, as it contains more bio fuel than the
normal 5% attacks older vehicle fuel systems.
Cheers,
Chas..

Following on from previous suggestions, I fitted new spark plugs,
checkedthe points and the timing.
The plugs are very sooty on the body but the electrodes look OK.
According to the strobe, the timing is just a little under 8
degreesbefore TDC.
When the weather is more amenable and I have the time, I might
tryadvancing it a little provided it does not ping.
Will see how it goes from here.
Regards
John
