It must be agreed that although the Mac operating system and graphics capabilities are much superior to the PC - OS still based on the old MS DOS, when it comes to word processing, spread sheet etc. Microsoft Office takes a lot of beating hence Office for Macs!
I know Bill is a converted Mac man and they are very beautiful machines and like all Apple products expensive. Your reference to dBase reminds me that the entire technical records of the Imperial War Museum were on dBase and only very recently transferred to some other programme. On my original "club" computer had full Office with Access but found it completely impenetrable. I find Excel does all I need. One day I will have to dig out my old BBC B which was a great machine, for its time. Programming was easy and very friendly but how did we ever survive on 32K memory!! Most Microsoft applications seem very user-unfriendly to me. I prefer almost anything from someone else. I never have been able to figure out Access - and I used to write programs in dBase.
