There is no grudge - only a personal preference. Apple has some good
products. I am more of a Linux type. There are other considerations
though - I work in a large MS-only IT department and need to be
compatible. Then there is my technophobic wife who refuses to even own
a cell phone. The thought alone of switching her from her old Win XP
laptop is daunting.

I know Bill is a converted Mac man and they are very beautiful
machines and like all Apple products expensive.
Your reference to dBase reminds me that the entire technical records
of the Imperial War Museum were on dBase and only very recently
transferred to some other programme. On my original “club” computer
had full Office with Access but found it completely impenetrable. I
find Excel does all I need.
One day I will have to dig out my old BBC B which was a great
machine, for its time. Programming was easy and very friendly but
how did we ever survive on 32K memory!!
