Brian,
I may not be a Microsoft fan but I care even less for Apple. It goes
back to the days of the IIc. Their closed systems and the "Do it our
way or not-at-all" attitude hasn't changed. Not for me.

It must be agreed that although the Mac operating system and graphics

I know Bill is a converted Mac man and they are very beautiful
machines and like all Apple products expensive.
Your reference to dBase reminds me that the entire technical records
of the Imperial War Museum were on dBase and only very recently
transferred to some other programme. On my original "club" computer
had full Office with Access but found it completely impenetrable. I
find Excel does all I need.
One day I will have to dig out my old BBC B which was a great machine,
for its time. Programming was easy and very friendly but how did we
ever survive on 32K memory!!
