Stay calm guys, all is well. You'd be surprised what we chaps get up to down in the potting shed! And you should see my Love Child down in the greenhouse flaunting its wares. It's a variety of C. chiisanensis.

Mike - you may now faint.

Cheers,
Owen,
Aboyne, where it's snowing, again.

Hi Owen

Very very good website thanks for the url. Besides the one Margaret refers
to as C. alpina
we have another about to bloom C. hirsutissima var scotti. The latter I
assume is a recognized
variety of this species known as the "Scotts hairy clematis". Hirsutissima
occurs from Nebraska into Washington
state. The Flora of North America lists the intergrade range for Scotti
from Wyoming, Colorado and Utah.
This is C. h. var scotti third growing season in my second alpine flower
bed, given late snow
cover this past winter, it speaks I believe to the cold hardiness of this
variety.
Cheers
Ed
