It isn't just insurance that rips you off. The last 2 years one of the big 
electricity providers have sent me a renewal contract for supplying to a 
property I rent out.  Both times the renewal quote has asked for a tariff 
increase of 20-30%.  When I've rung their "customer service" line to say the 
increase was excessive and threatening to change suppliers they have come 
straight back with a much more reasonable quote, pretty well in line with 
inflation. These people usually rely on customer inertia.

Totally agree about insurance. What are they making out of us? Got mine this 
year at nearly half the price to renew with existing company only to 
find....you guessed, same insurer but different broker!

You had me rolling about over the clematis BTW.
