Hi All,

Monkey HTTP Server is currently under the LGPLv2 License and
personally having a long-term open source background, i am seriously
considering to move from LGPLv2 to BSD 3-clause license. Most of the
reasons are:

 - Monkey should serve to help any HTTP/Web technology on any
environment, and restricting to just *GPL* extensions and linking is
not helping to a huge adoption.

 - I want to see Monkey everywhere, we already have the stack and
technology for high-end production and Embedded Linux environments,
license should not be a restriction.

 - Business are afraid of GPL adoption when linking or embedded third
party components such as Monkey can offer, BSD family is much
preferred.

 - Nowadays.. personally i don't mind if someone embed Monkey and do
not open his code, we did something for good and is being used for
good, we dont need more, we keep doing a good job.

General GPL* Licenses are very good, but we need something better for
Monkey needs, a few examples of projects that use BSD like license
are: Redis and NginX.

With this change we will be even more open allowing anyone to use our
technology without restrictions, mass adoption would be awesome and
this is the start.

I have emailed contributors about if they have some concern about
changing Licensing terms of their contributions, i will keep you
posted once i get full replies.

best,
