Maybe the decision is already made, but I would like to add my 2 cents
to the discussion.

I understand the interest to move away from LGPLv2 to a permissive
license[0], I won't argue against this. But BSD 3-clause license may be
a too weak license and AFAIK it doesn't protect properly against
patents. 

I would like to suggest you to consider Apache License v2[1], it's a
wide accepted license in companies, so this should solve some of the
concerns of possible adopters of the stack.
