There's nothing actually wrong with a Laser vang, but because it's such a
tightly controlled class they've been using the same components for... oh,
thirty-odd years that I know of. They're no longer the best. In fact, just
about every (beat-up) Laser that I've sailed has had the same problem with
the jam cleat on the vang block -- it doesn't jam (although it does chew up
the line something chronic).

I think a better solution would be one of the small blocks with integrated
cam cleats. Probably cheaper, too, since class-legal Laser parts are
expen$ive.

BTW: Nothing against the Laser. It's a lovely little boat, and I'd love to
have one...
