Tod, One time when I was sailing the Neuse river (VERY shallow, steep chop)a lot of water squirted through the hole for the swing keel pennant. As Miss T pounded, a small quirt of water was forced up and out of that hole. Enough water got into the boat that the bilge filled up and the floor liner was awash. I now have a sponge ball that I fit into that hole. I use it even if the swing keel is up, because I've seen a little water squirt up thru that hole with the keel in that position.
