Steve, I use a small Bruce copy - 4 lbs. - and I stow it and it's rode in the port sail locker, as well as an aluminum Danforth type of anchor and it's rode.
Having two anchors and rodes is just an insurance policy. If you are anchored and someone in a motorboat comes too close and cuts your rode with his propeller; then what? You just reach for No. 2. In fact, being a former big boat sailor, I also have a 7 lb. Fortress, with chain and rode in the forward compartment of my M15; just in case................ I may never use it, but it is a very comforting thought to know that it is there.
