I can't find any regulation prohibiting nav lights below the gunwale. I checked the Oregon State Marine Board and the Coast Guard regulations. Does anybody know where this prohibition might be verified? I doubt that boat manufacturers would still be producing boats with these lights if the Coast Guard didn't approve. Still, I've been wrong more than once and I would like to know for sure.
