I don't know if shrouds and fittings are a chocolate and vanilla issue,
or if there really is a best and better, but a number of folks will
tell you that swaged fittings are junk and the only way to go is
swageless, like Sta-Loc or Norseman fittings. Those you can do
yourself. Or it could be swaged and swageless are nearly the same and
folks have simply bought into effective marketing. Would like to hear
Jerry's thoughts on it.
My guess is that swaged is plenty good enough for day sailed boats like
ours. I had to replace a shroud a couple years ago and the rigger said
to not give it a second thought.

Thomas,
You can get replacement rigging direct from Jerry Montgomery himself.
He now
operates his own rigging service and has a webpage at:
www.jerrymontgomery.org
On his page he lists prices for M17 and M15 rigging. I believe that
shrouds
and forestays are about $21.00 a piece. Since he already knows the
measurements
you won't have to provide them to him or have to send your rigging in
to be
duplicated like you would at a shop that's not familiar with Monty's
Hope that helps
