i've enjoyed my honda 2H, 4-cycle, longshaft. the model i'm running is a 2005 (~10 hours by the prior owner at the time i purchased the boat in summer 2006). at this moment the motor has ~48 hours. it has run great ... is still 'young.' purchase a longshaft model of whichever motor you choose. you will want all that length if you get into any sea that causes the boat to pitch. the 2H is fine in almost all conditions. my estimation is it runs the boat at hull speed at 2/3 throttle (when there is no wind). more horsepower (HD) is not much help against tide as hull-speed is the limiting factor. wind is another story ... above 15-ish knots the boat feels 'under powered' with the 2HP. but ... the M15 sails fine in winds up to 25ish knots (if you have the correct sails) so why motor --- unless the tide is directly against you along with the wind. my biggest complaint against the small outboard is the lack of an external fuel tank (as standard). at 2/3ish throttle the honda 2H will run for me between 45min and an hour. i've gone as long as 1hr15min at 1/2 throttle moving along in no great hurry. but ... filling the tank is a pain (all sorts of systems to make this go easier; along with 'mods' to make an external tank 'work'). if only honda (and others) would spend a few bucks and put in a fuel pump! i agree with some others that a 3.5HP is a great sized engine ... at the expense of almost a doubling of weight hanging off the stern. in the end i think all things on boats are up to 'owner opinion.' good searching. dave scobie M15 #288 - not yet named Jim Sadler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: What is a good OB motor for my M-15?
