Skip, Jim, I owned the same motor (Tohatsu 3.5hp 2-cycle). It was strong and reliable, but very dirty. After using it in salt water I would run it in a bucket of fresh to clean the salt out of the system. I was dismayed to see how much oil accumulated on the inner wall of the bucket after only a single minute of operation. The next time I need a motor I'm going to give the marine environment a break and get a 4-cycle.
